Itinerary for Session II

On the first day, August 9, 2010, a private bus will pick up participants from a central location in Jerusalem, and take them to the Galil, for orientation at a SPNI field school (The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel) or Hostel. Participants meet each other, learn how to pack food and gear, and prepare to hit the trail.

Apply Now!
Each group begins at a different point on the Israel Trail. The trail starts in the Galil and turns west, crosses the country and moves towards the Carmel Mountains, just south of Haifa (an approximate distance of 100 KM/60 miles).

The north section of ITTA includes rock-climbing, with opportunities for on-trail volunteering.

There are two Shabbatot during the program. While up north, the participants learn to make Shabbat "B'Teva," in nature, setting up camp and cooking special Shabbat foods. Then, in the spirit of Shabbat, the groups will settle in for a hearty and well-earned rest. This is a time for participants to reflect on the week and build community.

Please Note: As the program begins early Monday morning, participants coming from abroad will need to arrive before Shabbat. This is your time to visit with family/friends in Israel. If necessary we can arrange home hospitality for the weekend before the program. This request can be made on the travel form you will need to complete upon acceptance to the program. Arriving the weekend before will also allow participants from abroad to adjust to the time change before embarking on the trail.

For return flights of participants from abroad, please do not schedule any flights earlier than 1 am on August 25th.
Please arrange your travel so flights do not arrive in Israel on Shabbat.

If you have any questions or concerns about travel arrangements - PLEASE contact us. We will work to address your concerns and to make accommodations to meet your needs.
